Toxic Waste Environmental Event Unfolding in Real Time

Mojo 2 Spare Productions' next documentary will be focusing on the issue of toxic waste and environmental justice in a small industrial town in Oklahoma. Recently, on February 3, a train of about 50 cars, derailed in East Palestine, Ohio. 10 of the train cars contained hazardous materials. The story is unfolding rapidly and predictably.

Here's a link to the village's most recent economic census data. Here's Wikipedia's brief history on the economy which is evidently primarily dedicated to orchards today.

The following is a list of hazardous chemicals released according to the EPA:

Vinyl Chloride Ethylhexyl acrylate (beginning on page 11)

Butyl acrylate (beginning on page 2)

According to this story, The EPA's letter "also states air and water sampling showed that “materials released during the incident were observed and detected in samples from Sulphur Run, Leslie Run, Bull Creek, North Fork Little Beaver Creek, Little Beaver Creek, and the Ohio River.” Such materials also were “observed entering storm drains,” it states."

To stay up to date on this event, follow the news as well as the EPA site dedicated to the toxic waste event.
