It is with great sadness that I share that my aunt, and subject of our first feature length film, Joanne Martin: A Life in Miniature is in a skilled nursing facility in St. Louis, in the last stages of dementia. I'm so proud of our film and grateful that I was able to record this amazing woman's life and contributions to the creative world of miniature-making. She and I share many qualities, most notably our wit and iron wills, as well as being the only two artists in the entire family. The last time I visited her, she alternated frequently between recognizing me and not recognizing me, but when she did, we really connected, and she still had the qualities above and the others she has always had. I'm so glad I spent the last 10 years getting to know her even more than I did before and I'm pleased that her story will live on. Mojo 2 Spare Productions will be seeking a wider distribution for her story in the near future so that others may know her as well as I do. If you'd like to view it, it is hosted on Amazon Video.
